Last year saw Google's new flagships, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, bound onto the scene with aplomb, although we certainly
preferred the Pixel 2 given its bigger brother's one fatal flaw.
As per usual, rumours are abounding regarding the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL's sucessor – the Google Pixel 3. Could we REALLY be getting an idea of what internet giant Google has in store for the Pixel 3 already?
Read on to find out…
Google Pixel 3: Release Date
We’re most likely not going to see the Pixel 3 until late 2018. If we were to hazard a guess though, the Pixel 3, like the Pixel and Pixel 2, will probably land in our hands some time during October 2018. Alas, that means no imminent debut at CES or MWC 2018. Still, there's leaks aplenty, so stay tuned for more updates.
Google Pixel 3: Could we be getting three Pixels?
We’re getting a bit of déjà vu with this one. Before Google unveiled the Pixel 2, leaks surrounding the company’s new flagship phone led us to believe that Google would be producing three Pixel phones, similar to Apple’s current range of iPhones (iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X). The reasoning behind this was due to the revelation that there were three Pixel codenames: Walleye, Muskie and Taimen. That transpired not to be true, however as only two of these Pixels-in-development saw the light of day. And now we’ve got three codenames again for the Pixel 3.

In a new report, Droid Life has suggested that we will be getting three Pixel handsets next year. Their source, who was behind the Taiman codename leak, has even leaked three fish-themed codenames to go along with the report: Crosshatch, Albacore, and Blueline. Here’s hoping the mid-range model Albacore, doesn’t get the boot this time. The source claims that Google might end up referring to the phones as A, B and C in an attempt to hide the devices’ identities.
The first two phones are expected to be premium-tier whilst the latter is rumoured to be an expensive high-end model.
Still, it’s very early days so we’ll have to keep an eye out on the rumours that are swimming around with Crosshatch and friends.
Google Pixel 3: Price
If we take a look at the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL we can make an educated guess on the price of the Pixel 3. We can see that the Pixel 2 starts at £629 and the Pixel 2 XL starts at a higher £799. The cost shouldn’t depart far from these price points.
However, if the above rumours are to be believed, there could be three Pixel 2018 handsets. If there are, it’s unlikely that the high-end model will eclipse the iPhone X in price, but never say never.
We’ll be updating this page with more rumours as we hear them.
