Ulaanbaatar – a friendly, cosmopolitan city:
The trip to the homeland of nomadis begins from Ulaanbaatar. The city was founded on the shore of Shireet Lake in central Mongolia 375 years ago. But it was moved more than 300 km until the the present capital Ulaanbaatar was erected.
Arkhangai aimag: UNESCO World Heritage site – in the cultural landscape of the Orkhon Valley:
Archaeological finds prove that Orkhon Valley was inhabited at least for 100,000 years. The Orkhon Valley is considered the cradle of the Central Asian nomads civilizations. Various of our ancestors, including the Huns, the Uighurs and the Turkic peoples settled here since the 3rd century BC.
In July 2004, World Heritage Committee included the cultural landscape of Orkhon Valley in the UNESCO World Heritage List (Source: weltkulturerbe.org).
